Supporting opportunities for employment in Lee County and the surrounding region is a cornerstone of the Sanford Area Growth Alliance (SAGA). SAGA plays a pivotal role in attracting companies that offer well-paying jobs and comprehensive benefits to local residents. In addition to this, SAGA stands as a leading advocate for the business community, assisting employers in their efforts to grow, expand, and thrive within the region.

SAGA’s mission to secure economic prosperity for Lee County and Sanford is multifaceted. The organization is deeply involved in fostering relationships with employers, understanding their needs, and ensuring that they have the resources necessary to succeed. Central to these efforts is the critical connection between employers and the workforce. SAGA works to bridge any gaps, ensuring that local businesses have access to a skilled and capable workforce, while also supporting job seekers in their quest for meaningful employment.

One of the many ways SAGA accomplishes this is by partnering with a variety of public and private organizations. These partnerships are crucial in building and connecting the area’s workforce, addressing the diverse needs of both employers and employees. The collaborative efforts of SAGA and its partners are aimed at creating a robust workforce that meets the demands of the local economy while also providing residents with opportunities for career growth and development.

An example of SAGA’s commitment to workforce development is the upcoming Regional Resource & Career Fair, currently being planned by the SAGA Education and Workforce Committee. This event is designed not only to provide employers with the opportunity to engage directly with local job seekers, but also to offer potential candidates access to valuable employment support resources. The career fair is a comprehensive event that goes beyond the traditional job fair format, recognizing that job seekers often face a range of challenges that can make securing the ideal job difficult.

The career fair, scheduled to be held on October 29th from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Eugene Moore Manufacturing & Biotech Solutions Center, located at 2101 Nash St., Sanford, will feature a variety of organizations dedicated to assisting job seekers. These organizations will provide support in areas such as resume writing, career training, childcare, housing, and other critical resources. Attendees are encouraged to visit these resource providers to take advantage of the support services available, which could open up new opportunities and help them overcome barriers to employment.

The goal of the career fair is to meet the needs of job candidates, helping them to overcome obstacles and better position themselves for success in the job market. By connecting attendees with the necessary resources, SAGA aims to empower individuals to take control of their career paths and secure employment that aligns with their skills and aspirations.
