As our community continues to grow, it is essential for us to welcome newcomers and invite them into the fold. “Community” can mean many things, and there are just as many ways to come together. We each have the freedom to shape what community means to us and how we show up for one another.
We see our community in action among our staff at SAGA. Our team’s diverse backgrounds and perspectives come together in ways that expand our capacity, inspire growth, and lead to greater success. Unity requires a shared purpose and a sense of community rather than sameness.
The spirit of mutual support between our local partners shows our community’s willingness to work together. Each of us works not only toward our individual goals, but toward a collective vision of improving the quality of life in Sanford and Lee County.
There is a strong sense of unity among those who volunteer with Sanford and Lee County’s nonprofit and faith-based organizations. People from all walks of life, whether they have lived here for decades or are new to the area, gather to serve and stand side by side in the selfless act of helping others.
Our community events provide a space for residents to come together to enjoy music, laughter, and shared moments. These gatherings reflect the warmth that makes our town so unique and charming.
We emphasize unity within our community because strengthening the culture of servant leadership strengthens our ties with each other as we grow. Civic groups, nonprofits, and board service help us connect with and learn from each other. As we do grow together, we preserve the best parts of small-town life: People know your name, lend a hand, and look out for one another.
If you ever wonder what makes Sanford and Lee County special, I invite you to experience it for yourself. Follow SAGA on social media to learn about community outreach. Witness the beauty of a community that comes together, not just in spirit, but in action, firsthand.
