Entrepreneurial dreams often take root and linger in our minds—waiting for the right moment to blossom. For many, the journey from idea to action can feel overwhelming, requiring guidance and support to transform dreams into reality. Small businesses are the backbone of our thriving communities, and we, at SAGA, take pride in being their strongest advocates.

In 2020, we launched the Real Investment in Sanford Entrepreneurs (RISE) Program in partnership with Central Carolina Community College’s Small Business Center and Downtown Sanford, Inc. This initiative is designed to empower aspiring entrepreneurs to launch their businesses and help existing ones refine their strategies for success. Through an eight-class program, participants are guided through the business plan writing process while learning critical concepts, best practices, and tools to thrive in today’s competitive market.

One of the most remarkable aspects of RISE is that it is entirely free for participants! This no-cost program equips entrepreneurs with essential knowledge—from financing options and taxation to navigating legal requirements—and culminates in a comprehensive business plan to elevate their startup to the next level. At the end of the program, participants can present their business plans to a panel of business professionals for a chance to win a reimbursable $5,000 grant and one year membership to the Chamber.

Since its start, RISE has made a tangible impact on Sanford’s entrepreneurial landscape. The program has produced fifty graduates, led to the creation of twenty-one small businesses, and generated over fifty new jobs. We are incredibly proud of the dedication and accomplishments of our participants, graduates, and small business owners who are helping to shape the future of our community.

If you are ready to take your entrepreneurial dreams to the next level, visit www.leesbc.com/RISE to learn more. Applications for this year’s class close on Tuesday, January 21st at midnight and classes begin February 10th. Let us continue to promote, grow, and support our entrepreneurs.
