Caterpillar’s commitment to our community continues to grow, and yesterday, the company announced new plans to help prepare Sanford and Lee County workers for jobs in modern manufacturing and industry technician roles. At an event at its manufacturing facility in Sanford, Caterpillar revealed that, as part of its Building the Future Workforce Initiative, it is investing $10 million in workforce training in our community. Caterpillar will work with local organizations like Central Carolina Community College and the Sanford Area Growth Alliance to expand access to workforce training, define skills needed for future jobs, and connect more people to modern manufacturing careers. Caterpillar Chief Human Resources Officer Christy Pambianchi said this investment would help current and future workers “…build the skills they need for careers in manufacturing and strengthen the workforce that will support the industry for years to come.” It comes on the heels of Caterpillar’s decision to invest more than $1 billion in a new manufacturing facility in Sanford and will further strengthen our community’s thriving industrial ecosystem.
We look forward to working with Caterpillar as it expands opportunities for our area’s residents and enhances our Community of Makers in the years ahead. Read Caterpillar’s full press release here.
