Michael Smith

Michael Smith comes to Sanford from his position as Director of Economic Development in Stanly County and prior to that he served in Davidson County economic development and led economic development in the Statesville Region for ten years.  Prior to working in Statesville, Smith worked with the North Carolina Department of Commerce in marketing and business development. Smith has a BA and MA in Urban/Regional Planning from East Carolina University and has held positions of leadership with the Statesville Chamber, NC Community College Foundation, and Broad Street Methodist Church, among others. 

Bob Joyce
Economic Development Executive Director

Bob is a lifelong Sanford resident. His career in the private and public sector included: banking, insurance, economic development, non-profits, and more. He has been with the Chamber since 2007 and recently assumed the role of Economic Development Executive Director.

Meg Moss
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director

Meg Moss graduated from James Madison University with a degree in mass communications. She spent four years running cameras at C-SPAN television before relocating to Sanford. After a one year commitment to Volunteers in Service to America, Meg joined the team at Lee County Industries, a leading non-profit in Sanford. She led the organization as the Executive Director for over 6 years. Meg has been a Chamber of Commerce ambassador for four years, and now serves as the Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. 

Tonia Godfrey
Operations Manager

Tonia is a Broadway native. She graduated from Central Carolina Community College, with an associates in Science and Business Administration. Tonia currently is our operations manager, assists in research services for economic development and also maintains our membership billing and office operations.

Jimmy Randolph
Existing Industry Development Manager

Jimmy graduated as valedictorian from Western Harnett High School and obtained a B.A. degree in Political Science from UNC-Chapel Hill. He began his professional life in human resources with American Airlines, then returned to Sanford and worked in multiple roles with the Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce for nearly six years. During that time, he served as a board member and volunteer with numerous community organizations, including the United Way and the Lee County Partnership for Children.

Austin Thomas
Marketing and Research Manager

Austin, a Sanford native, is a graduate of Wake Technical Community College with a degree in Advertising and Graphic Design. He started his marketing career with an internship at the Sanford Herald and has worked as a freelance graphic designer.  Being a lifelong Lee County citizen, he is eager to serve the community he calls home.

Morgan Barbour
Events Manager

Morgan, a Fayetteville native, is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in Communication. She served as the North Carolina FFA State Vice President in 2012. Her leadership experiences have landed her opportunities in event planning and communication. Morgan is excited to join the Sanford/Lee County business community.

Jennifer Taylor
Membership Services and Data Research

Jennifer, a Sanford native, earned an Associates Degree in Pre-Business at Central Carolina Community College and transferred to NC State University to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in finance. She previously served as Assistant Tax Collections Manager for Lee County Tax Department and is eager to continue working with the community.
