Joyce to assume the role of Economic Development Executive Director

The Sanford Area Growth Alliance (SAGA) is pleased to announce that Bob Joyce will be assuming the role of Economic Development Executive Director, effective immediately.

Joyce has been the Chamber of Commerce Executive Director for eight years. As he begins his new role in the organization in Economic Development, he will continue to work with the Chamber until a replacement has been appointed. Joyce will work with the Economic Development Committee of SAGA, SAGA investors and stakeholders to promote the business and economic interests in the community. Joyce will also be providing guidance to individuals and companies looking to relocate, establish or expand their businesses within Lee County.

“I am thrilled that Bob Joyce is moving into the role of Economic Developer,” said Brad Simpson, Chamber of Commerce Chairman. “This is a job that he is uniquely suited for given his long history in Sanford-Lee County.  We will benefit from his expertise and passion for our community.”

Joyce expressed that all his experiences in private business and government service, have prepared him for this opportunity.  “The past eight years at the Chamber have been extremely rewarding,” said Joyce. “Even with the Great Recession, the Chamber and our business community weathered the storm and are coming back stronger than ever as a new organization. I’m excited to be part of that, we’re building a stronger future. Lee County has been my home my entire life and I love it here. No one could be any prouder to be part of a team that works every day to sell Lee County and its advantages to others.”

 “[Joyce] has been an asset to the community for several years,” said Donnie Oldham, SAGA Chairman. “We think that his talents are perfectly suited to help us in recruitment of new industry as well as retention and support of existing businesses.”
