Sounds on Steele announces the lineup

Jul 07

Two stages.  A dozen bands.  One awesome day.

For one day, Sanford, North Carolina will become the center of the music universe.   On Saturday, Sep 12, 2015, from 10am to 6pm, two downtown stages will play host to over a dozen bands at Sounds on Steele.  Headlining will be bluegrass icons, Rodney Dillard & The Dillards, who have been entertaining crowds across the country for over 50 years.  They hold a special place in the hearts of North Carolinians for their appearances as "The Darlings" on The Andy Griffith Show from 1963 to 1966.  The Dillards are also known for being among the first bluegrass groups to electrify their instruments.  They are considered to be pioneers of Southern California folk rock, country rock, and progressive bluegrass, and they directly influenced artists like The Eagles and The Byrds.

Rounding out the Coca Cola Main Stage lineup on Carthage Street are Tommy Edwards & The Bluegrass Experience, Sweet Potato Pie, Sideline,  Samantha Casey & The Bluegrass Jam, and Three Jack Jenny.

On Wicker Street, the Buchanan's Music Stage will feature an eclectic mix of artists from around the region.  The lineup includes Nashville recording artist Josh Phillips, Faith Bardill & Back Row Saints, The Gary Mitchell Band, Britton Buchanan, Rob Matthews, Track VII, Sevryn Schaller, and Curtis Cash & The Family.  Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on and watch the shows.

Vendors will line Steele and Carthage Street, highlighted by craft beer tents featuring the Bombshell Beer Company and Bear Creek Brews.  There will be plenty to eat and drink with local restaurants setting up food tents.  Tickets are on sale now through the Temple Theatre Box Office for $20.  Gates will open at 10am.

Sounds on Steele is brought to you by Industrial Construction Experts, The Sanford Coca Cola Bottling Company, Downtown Sanford Inc., The Sanford Herald, and Life 103.1.
