Joy Thrash, Announced as SAGA CEO

Aug 24

The Sanford Area Growth Alliance (SAGA) is pleased to announce that Joy Thrash, who has been serving as the organization’s interim CEO, has been selected to fill the position on an ongoing basis.

Since her start with SAGA in May, Thrash has generated positive momentum for the organization and raised its profile as the leading advocate for business and economic development in Sanford, N.C.

Thrash will serve as CEO on a long-term contract through her company Business Resource Management, LLC. (BRM) and will relocate to Lee County to reside during the term of the contract.

BRM is a privately held Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) that provides a variety of professional services to government, defense and commercial customers. BRM is a certified HUBZone company with a background in nonprofit organizations, small business development, operations, and other professional management services.

“The SAGA Board of Directors is pleased to have Thrash continue her service to the organization” said Donnie Oldham, SAGA Chairman. “The Board is confident that she will continue to demonstrate the leadership necessary to drive the organization forward.”

Prior to her tenure in Sanford, Thrash was the Executive Director at the North Carolina Defense Business Association (NCDBA) for six years. She led the NCDBA to become a full functioning corporation serving as a professional trade association for the defense industry in North Carolina.

“Joy came to us as an experienced professional leader of chamber and economic development organizations,” said Bob Joyce, SAGA Economic Development Director. “Members of our business community have witnessed her abilities over the past three months and from my conversations with them, they are extremely pleased with the progress made by the Growth Alliance under her leadership. Her previous experience has enabled her to hit the ground running and she hasn’t stopped. SAGA has an ambitious program of work and Joy has aggressively tackled it, igniting the staff and SAGA leadership with her enthusiasm and know-how.”
