Chamber Chat: FYI and Lee County Living

Apr 01

Today, you will find the 2018 edition of the FYI Magazine inside The Sanford Herald. This publication is the principal visitor brochure for our community. For years, The Sanford Herald, along with the Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Corporation (now known as the Sanford Area Growth Alliance - SAGA) have partnered to produce this award-winning magazine, as well as the Lee County Living Magazine, which will come out later this spring.

Thousands of Lee County residents will receive this publication today via the Herald, more will view it online, and hundreds of newcomers will receive the magazine in a packet from the Welcome Center run by SAGA. The Welcome Center is located at 115 Chatham Street in downtown Sanford, and starting next week, the FYI Magazine will be available for visitors to the area via the Welcome Center.

And just as importantly, the Sanford-Lee County FYI Magazine can now be found in twelve Welcome Centers across the state of North Carolina. Through the efforts of SAGA’s Visitors Services program, and in partnership with the state’s VisitNC program, this publication has been approved for distribution across the state for potential visitors to see.

This year’s edition promises to be another great one with stories about every aspect of our well-centered quality of life. Last year’s magazine featured downtown shoppers and diners the cover. There were stories about our arts and entertainment community, business and industry, our school system, our faith community, health and wellness activities, and senior living. I look forward to reading this year’s edition!

In past years, in both the FYI, and the Lee County Living Publications, we have celebrated the Temple Theatre, Lee Early College, local artists and high school sports. We’ve spotlighted our local airport and desserts at local restaurants.

The Lee Regional Fair brings hundreds of visitors to our community in addition to the thousands of local folks who enjoy the old fashioned atmosphere of a real county fair. Images of the Christmas parade, quilting bee, reading with children at the Library, industrial innovations, music in the park, motocross and high school bands – all this can be found in the pages of past issues of both FYI and Lee County Living.

Every year, the Sanford Herald, SAGA, and its partners are excited to unveil the new issue. We’re always surprised by how events and places and people that we see every day…that we take for granted…become exceptional stories about our town. These publications show the world what it’s like to live and work and play in our community. These pages describe us. The photographs tell our story.

Our community works constantly to find opportunities for our businesses to promote themselves and to shine a light on those parts of our community that are special. FYI and Lee County Living magazines represents our best effort each year to display the stories of our community.

Sit down with a cup of coffee and read the FYI magazine today. Share it with your out-of-town friends. They might discover something about us that you didn’t even know. And stay tuned for May 25th…. that’s when you can find the 2018 version of Lee County Living Magazine. And please remember to patronize the Chamber members listed in each publication.
