The Sanford Area Growth Alliance (SAGA) is gearing up for fall events! This coming week is the sold out SAGA Annual Meeting, with Central Carolina Hospital as the Presenting Sponsor. Attendees will receive the SAGA Annual Report, and hear from elected officials and community leaders about their accomplishments over the past year.

Leadership Sanford is underway as well. In its 20th year, the program begins this week and runs through June. The monthly sessions give participants an in-depth look at a range of topics of community interest and importance by experts and community leaders. Topics are designed to provide both personal development and community enrichment. We’re excited to continue this program, which began under the leadership of then Chamber President, Joni Martin.

And then there is the Chamber Clays Championship! A lot of communities are able to experience corporate and nonprofit golf tournaments, but we are lucky that in addition to a golf tournament, we get to experience an alternative option. It began nine years ago, and has turned into a highly anticipated annual event for both shooting enthusiasts, and novices alike.

The Clays Championship will take place at Deep River Sporting Clays on Cletus Hall Road in Sanford on Friday, October 26th. The mission of Deep River Sporting Clays is simple: to offer respite. Their vision is to provide the best family-oriented outdoor recreational and educational experience available. And the values of Deep River owners Bill and Mary Kempffer include providing an opportunity for a healthy outdoor lifestyle, and encouraging physical and mental wellness.

Other organizations such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Carolina, the Kay Yow Foundation, and the USO of NC have also taken advantage of the opportunity to provide folks a fun way of raising money. Through these tournaments, Deep River Sporting Clays has brought in visitors from surrounding counties.

Located right here in Lee County, on 65 acres of woodlands, Deep River Sporting Clays is celebrating 30 years serving central North Carolina.‚Äč Other than the sounds of the shotguns of course, it’s actually a quiet place. A place to relax and let go of your worries for the day. Enjoy the outdoors, and enjoy the company of those with you.

For the Chamber Clays tournament, businesses can enter teams of five people who each shoot at 13 stations, totaling 50 targets. The event serves as both a great a team building activity for employees within an organization, and a great opportunity for professionals to network with other businesses. And there are certainly sponsorship opportunities. Please contact me for more information at 919-775-7341 x1502 and I can give you all the details!

In addition to shooting the regular course, attendees are able to participate in Side Events. For a little extra cash, folks get a chance to shoot a few rounds with a handgun, shot gun or rifle.

Deep River Sporting Clays is committed to providing an unparalleled experience for each and every guest, whether they are a seasoned competitor or a first time shooter. For a unique and memorable experience, consider having your next corporate outing at Deep River.  They provide the perfect combination of facilities and options to make your event fun for everyone, even if you’ve never shot clays before. It may be the best kept secret in Lee County, but I don’t think it should stay that way for long.
